Shoppers Jam The Fresh Market Grand Opening

PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. -- Stormy weather failed to keep the crowds away from The Fresh Market's grand opening in Peachtree City on Wednesday.

Shoppers arrived in the rain to find a packed parking lot with few open spaces.  Once inside, they stood shoulder to shoulder to browse the 21,000-square foot store.  Each of the lines at checkout stood a dozen people deep or more.

The Fresh Market took over the supermarket space that was vacated by Kroger in June 2009.  The gourmet supermarket's arrival came complete with a new facade for the Peachtree Crossings shopping center at the corner of Peachtree Parkway and Highway 54.  The store is the 101st for The Fresh Market and the 11th in Georgia.
