ATLANTA -- The Georgia Department of Natural Resources Environmental Protection Division has issued a Code Orange (unhealthy for sensitive groups) Air Quality Alert for Metro Atlanta for Thursday.

Under Code Orange conditions, the outdoor air is likely to be unhealthy for some people. Children, people who are sensitive to ozone and people with heart of lung diseases should limit prolonged outdoor exertion during the late afternoon or early evening when ozone concentrations are highest.

ATLANTA -- Georgia's Environmental Protection Division says the Air Quality Index for Metro Atlanta is 101 on Monday. 

The EPD says the figure means Atlanta's air is unhealthy for sensitive groups, and it's issued an orange smog alert for the area.

The agency says children, people who are sensitive to ozone and people with heart or lung disease should limit prolonged outdoor exertion during the late afternoon or early evening when ozone concentrations are highest.

High temperatures are expected to be in the 80s on Monday and approaching 90 on Tuesday.
