Cicadas bring back the buzz

(GANNETT NEWS SERVICE) -- They're loud, they're ugly and for the next four to five weeks, they'll be in your face.

Cicadas: They're back, and although they don't cause any real harm - except perhaps to some younger trees and the stomachs of pets who will eat them like popcorn - they'll be getting on the nerves of most Middle Tennesseans.

People in north Macon, Jones County, and some other areas say the bugs' high-pitched buzzing is causing a racket around the region.

DNA IDs bin Laden, wife named him in raid

DNA IDs bin Laden, wife named him in raid

WASHINGTON (AP) - After the firefight that killed Osama bin Laden, the U.S. used "multiple methods" to positively identify his remains, according to a senior Pentagon official who personally saw a photograph of the corpse.

The official, who discussed the matter on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly, declined to specify the methods of identification, but two Obama administration officials said DNA evidence confirmed the death.

The officials claimed the DNA evidence provides a match with 99.9% confidence.

The Pentagon has also said the bin Laden's wife identified him by name during the raid.
