Jesse Walton, Jr., CFP®, Honored as New Member of 100 Black Men of Atlanta

ATLANTA (May 12, 2011) Jesse Walton, Jr., was inducted as a new member of the 100 Black Men of Atlanta Inc. (100) organization on May 10, 2011at an evening pinning ceremony. The elegant event was held at Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s headquarters. 100 is a coalition of some of Atlanta’s most influential men organized to empower Atlanta’s challenged communities. Together they channel educational and economic resources toward these communities’ students and future leaders.

Walton, a Financial Advisor and Certified Financial Planner® (CFP®) at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, Alpharetta, is an active community volunteer. “I am truly honored to be a part of this great organization,” said Walton, “and am particularly excited to get involved with its flagship program, Project Success.” Through Project Success, the 100 provides educational support, cultural enrichment and scholarships to carefully selected students from Atlanta Public Schools.

“We are pleased to have Jesse as a member of our organization,” stated John T. Grant, chief executive officer of 100 Black Men of Atlanta. “His commitment to service and the support of our mission will make him an impact player as we work to provide opportunities for others to improve their lives. As an investment professional in the financial services industry since 2000 and Certified Financial Planner® (CFP®), Walton focuses on assisting high net worth families, businesses, and non-profit organizations with investment management, comprehensive financial planning and business solutions. His practice concentrates on retirement planning, income distribution planning and wealth protection strategies for pre-retiree and retirees.

Raised in South DeKalb County, Walton earned a football scholarship to Howard University and graduated with a BBA degree in International Business. He furthered his studies and received an MSE degree from Georgia State University. Later, he earned an Executive Certificate in Financial Planning from Duke University, a Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA®) designation, which is taught in conjunction with The Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania and sponsored by the Investment Management Consulting Association.  Currently he volunteers his time as finance chairperson of St. James United Methodist Church in Alpharetta, Ga., and is an active member of the National Black Arts Festival and the Investment Management Consultants Association.
