ATLANTA -- LittlePINKBook.com, America’s No. 1 digital platform for career women, will host its 9th Annual Fall Empowerment Event on Tuesday, Nov. 12. Top-level female executives will share their experiences with rising through the corporate ranks to an audience of like-minded, successful women motivated to get there.  

Executives on the panel will be asked questions from the event’s moderator, Carol Costello, anchor at CNN Newsroom, Little PINK Book’s CEO and Founding Editor Cynthia Good as well as attendees. Panelists include:

ATLANTA -- State School Superintendent Dr. John Barge has selected 50 students from across Georgia to serve on his 2013-14 Student Advisory Council.

More than 700 teens applied to join this year's council, which was formed to give young people a voice in how their classrooms are organized.

"Having student input during the policy-making process is invaluable," Barge said in a statement. "The students are ultimately the ones impacted by our work, and I want them to share their ideas and concerns as we address many critical issues."

The council will meet three times this school year to discuss how state policies have an impact in their classrooms. They will also serve as the superintendent's ambassadors to their respective schools.

Broun, who represents Georgia's 10th District, is a candidate for the U.S. Senate seat that Saxby Chambliss will vacate next year. As a medical doctor, he is uniquely qualified to discuss several issues facing Americans, primarily health care.

The breakfast will be held Saturday, July 6 at 8:30 a.m., at the Fayetteville IHOP. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Fludd Scholarship available to students

TYRONE, Ga. -- Rep. Virgil Fludd (D-Tyrone) has renewed his Fludd Scholarship Award for high school students.

The monetary award is given annually to exceptional teens from Fayette and south Fulton counties, the areas Fludd represents.

"The scholarship program was created to recognize the academic performance and community service of students in the south metro area," Fludd said in a statement. "We are delighted to be able to continue this program and even more excited about helping these young people with their college careers."

More information about applying for the scholarship will be available soon at virgilfludd.org.

Money for the scholarship program comes from the annual Virgil Fludd Scholarship Golf Tournament. This year's tournament will be held Monday, Oct. 14 at Flat Creek Golf Club in Peachtree City.
