Missing Fairburn boy found at Publix

FAIRBURN, Ga. -- An 11-year-old Fairburn boy who disappeared Thursday has been found safe.

Ricky Wang was found at around 8 a.m. Friday at the Publix in Tyrone, about four miles from his home. Police said he spent the night in the woods.

Wang had been missing since about 4:30 p.m. Thursday after getting off a school bus outside his neighborhood on Johnson Road in Fairburn.

Witnesses told police that instead of walking into the subdivision where he lived, Ricky began walking down Johnson Road toward Coweta County and the City of Palmetto. Ricky is not known to have friends or relatives in the direction he was last seen walking.

Fairburn Police tweeted early Friday, about three hours before the boy was found, that Wang was spotted on Palmetto-Tyrone Road near Lincoln Road in Tyrone.

ATLANTA -- There is no logo, brand or T-shirt that shows as much excitement as a big ol' smile.

"It's like Christmas Day, only it's hot!" Debbie Rader-Clanton said.

She's smiling not just because she's at a Braves game, but of what she's about to do there.

"It's my lifetime dream to play the organ at a Major League Baseball game," Rader-Clanton said.

Unemployment climbs again in July

Unemployment climbs again in July

(WXIA) -- Metro Atlanta's unemployment rate was 8.0 percent in July, up from 7.5 percent in June. The rate was 8.3 percent in July 2013.

Fayette County's unemployment rate was 7.5 percent last month.

Georgia Labor Commissioner Mark Butler said the increase was due to seasonal layoffs in manufacturing and education. Many of those workers have since returned to their jobs.

In addition, metro Atlanta's private sector created 8,900 jobs in July. Most of the positions were in business; trade and transportation; finance and information services; leisure and hospitality; and construction.

Metro Athens had Georgia's lowest July jobless rate at 6.6 percent. The Heart of Georgia-Altamaha region had the highest at 11.4 percent.
