News

FAYETTE COUNTY, Ga. -- A traffic stop in Fayette County has led to the arrest of a major rapper.

Fayette County officials said Rick Ross was pulled over along Highway 279 Wednesday on a window tint violation.

Deputies smelled marijuana during the stop and found it in Ross's Bentley leading to a possession charge.

Ross bonded out of jail early Thursday morning. The Fayette County Sherff's Office released his mugshot after midnight.

According to Allen Stevens, Executive Assistant to the Sheriff, Ross was not given special treatment because of his celebrity status. Therefore he waited hours to be processed, in line with approximately thirty other people.

The nationally-known Ross purchased the Evander Holyfield estate in Fayette County in early 2014 for about $6 million, well under its estimated construction cost of $50 million.
