Clayton County police make six arrests in illegal gambling ring | News
JONESBORO, Ga. -- The Clayton County Police Department made six arrests for illegal gambling on Thursday after a five-month investigation.
According to police, the Narcotics Unit, during their investigation of an illicit gambling operation, found that multiple locations were given illegal cash pay outs to undercover officers by the owners and employees of businesses.
The CCPD and the Clayton County District Attorneys Office, Forest Park Police Department and Fayette County Sheriffs Office carried out search warrants at local companies including Mi Casa on Old Dixie Highway, House of Decor on Highway 85 and Su Casa on Highway 54 simultaneously.
Officials said six arrests were made for Commercial Gambling and took the suspects to the Clayton County Jail.
The suspects are Junaid Khan, 47, of Fayetteville, Julia Sandoval, 21, of Jonesboro, Aliz Barton Perez, 23 of Forest Park, Maria Rios, 32, of Forest Park, Hugo Cervantes, 25, of Riverdale and Rosa Mendoza, 18, from Forest Park.
Officials reported that additional charges are pending, as well as further large seizures of money and property.
