Pizzeria to raise money for HeroBox

PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. -- Peachtree City's newest pizza restaurant is celebrating its grand opening by doing good for others.

Brixx Wood Fired Pizza will open on Monday, Sept. 16. From 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on opening day, customers can donate to HeroBox, a Tyrone-based charity that supports deployed service members.

A $25 donation will net Brixx customers dinner, wine and special craft beer. All proceeds will go toward care packages for those serving in the military.

PROBE College Fair coming to Fayette County

TYRONE, Ga. -- The PROBE College Fair will stop in Fayette County next week.

The fair, which features representatives from nearly 200 colleges and universities across the country, will be at Sandy Creek High School on Wednesday, Sept. 18 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

PetSmart to host National Adoption Weekend

PetSmart to host National Adoption Weekend

(WXIA) -- PetSmart Charities is planning a major adoption event at stores nationwide.

National Adoption Weekend will be Sept. 13-15. Thousands of dogs and cats will be available for PetSmart customers to take home.

Adoption representatives will also be on hand to answer questions about caring for a new pet.

PetSmart Charities will give $35 to grants to participating local adoption partners for every pet that finds a new home during National Adoption Weekend.

"We are proud to partner with PetSmart Charities to find lifelong loving homes for thousands of pets this National Adoption Weekend," PetSmart CEO David Lenhardt said.

Lovejoy Fallfest returns in September

LOVEJOY, Ga. -- One of Clayton County's most popular events will return this fall, with more music and family-friendly fun for everyone in attendance.

The Lovejoy Fallfest will be Saturday, Sept. 14 from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Lovejoy Community Center.

Electric violinist Ken Ford will once again headline the event, which will feature a wide range of musical stylings. Attendees will also be treated to food, shopping, pony rides, arcade games and more.

"It really does my heart good to see the citizens of Lovejoy enjoy themselves at our Fallfest," Lovejoy Mayor Bobby Cartwright said in a statement. "It's a fun, safe environment for the entire family."

The Lovejoy Community Center is located at 11622 Hastings Bridge Road.

Fayette's Biggest Food Drive needs volunteers

FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. -- Fayette County is looking for volunteers to help out with a county-wide food drive next month.

Fayette's Biggest Food Drive will be held Saturday, Sept. 14 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Fayetteville Gazebo.

The food drive's goal is to fill a 53-foot trailer with non-perishable items for local families in need.

Peachtree City is creating a list of volunteers who can deliver items from the city to the Fayetteville Gazebo. Anyone interested in helping out is asked to send a message to info@peachtree-city.org.

5K to raise money for breast cancer research

5K to raise money for breast cancer research

FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. -- Fayetteville will host a 5K for the 2-Day next month.

The race, which raises money for breast cancer research, will be Saturday, Sept. 14 at Heritage Christian Church.

Registration is $20, with all proceeds benefiting the 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer.
