ATLANTA - Wednesday afternoon, Carter's Inc. announced the opening of a new distribution center in Jackson County, expected to create 600 new jobs by 2015.

The Atlanta-based children's clothing company will fill 250 of those positions by the end of the year.

Marketing vice-president Greg Foglesong says all 600 positions are full-time, and the company expects to hire "hundreds" more seasonal workers.

"We are eager for applicants and ready to get the new facility up and staffed quickly," Foglesong said.

The center will open in Braselton this June.

Founded in Atlanta, Carter's is looking to hire both management and hourly workers. Positions range from operations and engineering to human resources. Carter's will provide training for most workers through Georgia QuickStart.

This will be the company's 6th facility statewide, including the company's Atlanta headquarters and four more centers in Hogansville, Stockbridge, Griffin and Fayetteville.

The company will close its Hogansville location in the next 12-14 months, but the center's 210 employees will have an opportunity to apply for transfer to the new facility.

Foglesong said the transfer positions are not included in the 600 new jobs.

Many positions are already listed on the company's website. Carter's will hold a job fair May 9-12 at the new center in Braselton.
