2013 Shuler Hensley Awards nominees announced

ATLANTA -- Some of the most talented young performers in Georgia have been recognized with nominations for the 2013 Shuler Hensley Awards.

The awards program honors the best high school musical theater productions in the state.

It is named for Cobb County native Shuler Hensley, a seasoned Broadway performer who has won a number of prestigious awards, including a Tony.

This year's Shuler Hensley Awards nominees were announced Tuesday. The awards ceremony will be held Apr. 18 at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre.

Josh Groban concert to be screened in metro Atlanta

ATLANTA -- Josh Groban is giving a live preview concert of his new album in New York City, but local fans won't have to travel far to watch the performance.

Josh Groban Live: All That Echoes will be screened at several theaters across metro Atlanta.

The concert will be broadcast live on Monday, Feb. 4 at 7 p.m. Groban will perform some of the biggest hits from his 12-year career, as well as songs from his sixth studio album, All That Echoes, which hits shelves Feb. 5. He will also answer fans' questions submitted via Twitter and text message.

"To have the chance to perform songs new and old and interact with Q&A with fans across the country is truly awesome," Groban said in a statement. "Fathom (Events) gives me that reach using state-of-the-art visual and sound at your local movie theater to experience a concert experience unique to any other. What a great way to kick off the album release!"

TYRONE, Ga. -- "What a way to make a living!" The popular Dolly Parton musical 9 to 5 is coming to Fayette County in January.

The production will play at the Legacy Theatre in Tyrone from Jan. 25 to Feb. 17. Tickets are $25 for adults, $22 for seniors and students, and $15 for children ages 12 and under. Visit thelegacytheatre.org to book tickets.

9 to 5 is a comedy about three working women who team up to take care of business in a very man-oriented company. The 1980 film turned Dolly Parton into a household name and its title song won two Grammy Awards, including Country Song of the Year. A Broadway production of 9 to 5 opened in 2009.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. -- One of the hottest contemporary Christian groups on the radio will perform in Fayette County next month.

Big Daddy Weave will give a concert at Heritage Christian Church on Friday, Dec. 7 at 7 p.m. They will perform with special guest MIKESCHAIR.

The concert is part of Big Daddy Weave's Christ is Come Christmas Tour and is sponsored by The Joy FM.

Tickets are $15 general admission or $25 for Gold Circle seating. Proceeds from the concert will benefit the Joseph Sams School in Fayetteville and the New Life Children's Home in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.

ATLANTA -- Monday was a huge night for metro Atlanta theater, as the winners of the 2012 Suzi Bass Awards were announced at the Porter Sanford Performing Arts Center in DeKalb County.

Some of the area's most talented actors, directors and techies walked away with Suzis, which are among the top honors for Atlanta theater productions.

The award for Outstanding Production of a Musical went to the Actor's Express staging of Spring Awakening, while Theatrical Outfit's Red won Outstanding Production of a Play.
