FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. – (submitted by Melinda Berry-Dreisbach) Another record-breaking donation for the Joseph Sams School was collected at the annual charity concert sponsored by local school choirs of the Fayette County Public School System.

The event raised $3,040, topping last year’s record by $440. This marked the sixth year that choirs from Cleveland Elementary, Inman Elementary, Fayetteville Intermediate, Bennett’s Mill Middle, Fayette Middle and Fayette County High, along with the high school’s wind ensemble, have come together to perform holiday songs at Harps Crossing Baptist Church.

Fayette County High Choral Director Richard Prouty, one of the music teachers whose idea it was to start the charity concert, says the amount raised was beyond anyone’s expectations.

“All the directors involved were beside themselves when we found out how much was raised. The concert has been a huge success over the years, but this year was the best ever,” says Prouty.

The concert has benefitted a children’s charity since it began; this was the third year that the Joseph Sams School has been the recipient.

“There are truly no words to adequately express our sincere appreciation for once again selecting the Joseph Sams School as the beneficiary of the concert. It was a wonderful and joyous concert, and we were absolutely thrilled with the results,” says Marie V. Sams, executive director of the school.
