Under Armour Athlete of the Week: Week 15 Winner

TYRONE, GA -- As the playoffs get deeper, the individual performances keep getting better. In the quarterfinals, three players competed well enough to earn a nomination for 11Alive and Atlanta.HighSchoolSports.net's Under Armour Athlete of the Week. Which player won this week's award?

With a little over half of the online vote, Sandy Creek's Alex Chisum is the Under Armour Athlete of the Week. Chisum is a senior wide receiver committed to play football at the University of Cincinnati next year.

In his team's 41-0 win over Monroe Area, Chisum caught eight balls for 187 yards. Sandy Creek has a dynamic offense and Chisum has been an integral part of the Fighting Patriots' success.

Sandy Creek is now 14-0, has won 28 straight games, and plays Carrollton in the 3A state championship this weekend.

You can catch Chisum on MyAtlTV at 10:30 pm this Friday, where he will be featured on 11Alive's HighSchoolSports.net.

Tucker's James Vaughters was also nominated for the Under Armour Athlete of the Week award. Vaughters, a 2011 Stanford commit, was instrumental in the Tigers' defensive effort against Ware County in the quarterfinals. In that game, Vaughters returned a Ware County fumble for a touchdown in the second half.

Tucker went on to win that game 42-3, but lost to Starr's Mill 20-19 in the semifinals.

The final nominee for Athlete of the Week was Jack Geraghty, Lovett's backup quarterback. When starter Hunter Budd went down, the junior stepped in and helped the Lions to a 35-18 win over Brooks County.

Geraghty, who is also Lovett's kicker, rushed for four touchdowns and over 100 yards in the game. Through the air, he was 4 of 6 for 42 yards.

Lovett, a four seed, advanced to the semifinals where they were beaten by Region 6-2A rival Buford.
