Public help sought in Fairburn cold case murder
FAIRBURN, GA (WXIA) -- Police are asking for the public's help with an unsolved murder in Fayette County.
A Fairburn woman with cerebral palsy was shot and killed during a burglary more than two years ago.
Betty Brown is still grieving two years and seven months after she lost her granddaughter Denice Roberts in a senseless act of violence.
The two had been inseparable for 44 years, since Denice was born with cerebral palsy.
In August 2012, they came home from running errands and surprised an unknown number of burglars.
As the intruders drove off in a white vehicle, they fired at the two, who were cowering on the front
porch.
"She was shot in the left side of the face," Betty said.
Denise died instantly but her memory lives on throughout the house -- her photos, her doll collections, equestrian awards.
